AV Marc, Art/Design/Fashion Collector

Tell us about your outfit today. What inspires you to get dressed every day?

Today, it’s a mix of vintage and modern pieces. I just have my own style, but always with a lot of accessories from shoes, hats, scarves, everything.

What’s your relationship to color? Because you seem to wear a lot of color!

I love colors because in New York most people wear black because it’s practical and convenient. But I don’t want to drown in a sea of black. I will disappear.

What do you look for when collecting?

Design. Collecting art is a feeling and also a visual experience.

What would you tell young people today who are still figuring out their aesthetic preferences?

There’s so much around the world now. You can get inspiration anywhere from the streets. But I mostly get my inspiration from couture.

Are there any couture houses that speak to you?

Oh, Dior, Saint Laurent, all of that. But it’s also good to discover new talent. In fact, this week, I’m attending The Couture Council FIT opening night, and then this same week, I’m going to the Andre Leon Talley event and the Met Opera opening night. So, you know, there’s lots of things to do. I love museums, auction houses, art galleries, art fairs, design fairs, just all of that.

How do you feel about the Armory Show so far?

There’s something here for everybody, but also there’s blue chip galleries here now and new ownership. The Armory Show is now owned by the Frieze Art fair, which is interesting.
